Ama Dablam - 6856m. |
| |
High on her Southwest face hangs a glacier
resembling a 'Dablam' - the sacred ornament box
worn by ladies in the Sherpa community. It was
this spectacular feature that got her the name
"Ama Dablam". She lies alongside Everest in the
heart of the Khumbu valley offering a superb climb
up a spectacular ridge.
The route we follow begins at Lukla (2850m) and
the initial days of the trek pass through the
legendary Sherpa country up the spectacular high
valley of the Khumbu. Much of he route on the
actual climbing is fixed with no icefall or glacier
to negotiate, and most of it is concentrated on
the crest of a ridge. The climb is relatively
safe though exposed and sheep and not really a
mountain for debutantes.

Baruntse - 7129m. |
| |
Baruntse is the most accessible 7000 meter peak
in the region besides having a normal route of
ascent which can be guided. The first to make
its summit were the already famous Hillay and
Jim McFarlane. The ascent route is through the
southern ridge overhanging the famous West pass,
this is in act the traditional route opened by
Hillary and Shipton in 1952.
The regular approach begins at Lukla and takes
you across the Hongu valley, one of the most fertile
region in Nepal, passing northward through a beautiful
alpine environment. The walk passes through delightful
Sherpa country and provides for excellent acclimatization.
The Baruntse base camp is at an altitude of around
5400m and sits near the pristine lakes below Amphu
Labtsa pass. The route then follows a long ridge
leading to the summit.

Pumori - 7161m. |
| |
|
Pumori is generally considered to be technically
challenging and requires climbers to be experienced
as well as in faultless physical condition. For
one such climber this mountain could become the
most rewarding challenger in the Himalaya.
Our trek kicks off at Lukla. For the actual climb
we will use the classical route which was first
opened by a German -Swiss team. We climb the enormous
south-east slope till the junction with the north-east
ridge.

Mt. Everest - 8848m. |
| |
| Everest is still as mysterious,
beguiling and magnificent as ever. Standing incredibly
tall silhouetted against the shared sky of Nepal
and Tibet, this mountain has many names: Chomolungma,
Sagarmatha, Qomolungma or Mt. Everest. Which ever
name one chooses, its mystery still lives on.
It was first climbed by Sir E. Hillary & Tenzing
Norgay in 1953.
Although there are a dozen or so routes on Mt.
Everest we follow the classical route, traditionally
the most reliable way to the summit.

Lhotse - 8516m. |
| |
| "Lhotse" means south peak.
An impressive ring of three peaks make up the
Lhotse massif: Lhotse East or Middle, Lhotse &
Lhotse Shar. The South Face of Lhotse is one of
the largest mountain faces in the world. We attempt
to climb the normal route to the tallest peak
of the Lhotse massif.
Lhotse BC is located beside the Khumbu Glacier,
same as Everest BC. The section during the climb
which has been unanimously declared the most dangerous
is the Khumbu Icefall.

areas of Nepal. Starting at Tumlingtar plateau
just above the Arun River, we walk through the
snow, rain and cloud prone Kauma. Base Camp is
just south of the snout of the Barun Glacier at

Kanchenjunga - 8586m. |
| |
| This multi-topped massif comprises
of four summits. Main Summit, Middle Summit, South
Summit & Yalung Kang or West Summit, each
one measuring over eight thousand meters.
As way back s 1848/49 one of the greatest of
British botanists. J.D. Hooker, made two commendable
trips to make an almost complete circuit of the
Kanchenjunga range. The came within twenty two
kms of the peak itself. But it was only in 1955,
more than a century later, that a British expedition
finally made its summit.
There are four different routes to the mountain
peak with both its south and east side providing
opportunities for new routes. It is believed that
the east flank of the South Summit is by far the
most difficult face route.
