Activities

So you've got the whole plethora of temples and stupas and your head goes boom-boody-boom? Try trekking for change. After all, that's what got Nepal on the map, right?. The best trekking season is between October and early December, although March and April are also popular. For lower treks even the winter months are just great - crystal-clear views of those silly mountains. And with the trekking companies we feature, there is no second-guessing.

Trekking permits are no longer necessary, but in most parts you require a National Park or Conservation Area permit.

Popular treks from Kathmandu include the Everest Base Camp, and the Helambu and Langtang treks. A great choice are also the off-the beaten path treks into the Jugal Himal - just in case you do not want to run into your tax accountant. From Pokhara, the most popular are the Annapurna Circuit and the Jomsom trek. Less-travelled alternatives require more planning, but include the Kanchenjunga Base Camp trek, the Dolpo region, Mustang, Manaslu and Rara Lake.

Rafting and kayaking are incredibly popular, especially on the Trisuli River near Kathmandu and the Sun Kosi in Dolalghat. Remoter challenges include the Karnali (a two-day trek from Surkhet) and the Tamur (a three-day trek from Dobhan in eastern Nepal). Other activities include mountain biking in the Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara and near the Tibetan border; and safariing in the Terai. Feel the urge to get airborne? Well then try Paragliding around Pokhara. A range of language, spiritual, medicinal and yoga courses can be taken in Kathmandu and at various temples and monasteries.

GOLF HIMALYA

Golfing in Nepal has picked up quite considerably. There is a good selection of good and demanding golf courses in the Kingdom of Nepal.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

We invite you to get on one of our bikes and take to the quiet roads and secret trails of the Kathmandu Valley for a tailor-made one-day mountain biking adventure. Various other MTB trips are available. Descents of over 2000 vertical metres in Nepal are possible, and all abilities from novice through experienced can be catered for. Vehicle support is provided where necessary. American-made mountain bikes, helmets, mountain bike day pack, lunch and water bottle are all provided in addition to your knowledgeable guide.

SEE NEPAL FROM THE AIR

One of the most exciting ways to see the Himalaya is from the air, allowing people who do not have enough time to see the world's highest mountains. Here are some of the options that you can book:

Helicopter excursions and trekkings: private flights to the mountain or region of your choice. A wide variety of helicopters can be chartered to meet your requirements, from small yet powerful Ecureull to the mighty Ml-17 helicopter.
