Day 1 : Arrive in Kathmandu,
transfer to Haatiban
Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to Haatiban Resort,
on the outskirts of the city escorted by your guide.
At the resort, 450 meters above the city, enjoy the
beautiful vista of Kathmandu below and the mountains
beyond. If time permits enjoy the later part of the
afternoon visiting the Dudjom monastery nearby.
Day 2 : Hike to Champadevi, 2278m.
A full morning excursion begins with an early breakfast
at the break of dawn. The walk upto the Champadevi hill
(2278 mts) is a great way to stretch out your legs after
a long flight and at the same time acclimatize to the
altitude. On a fine day the view from the top of the
hill is quite amazing, from Manaslu all the way to Everest.
Return to the resort for lunch. An option in the afternoon
is to visit the temple of Dakshinkali and Buddhist monastery
of Pharping and to get an insight of village life.
Day 3 : Flight to Lukla
A spectacular mountain flight to Lukla, 2800 mts and
a short walk to our first lodge from the airport. After
checking in and light lunch a pleasant walk of about
3 hours is in the program to the nearby village of Bom
and back. The walk offers a wonderful birds eye view
of the small Lukla airport and the village. After teatime
back at the lodge a stroll through this lively trekking
village is interesting.
Day 4 : Monjo
Our day begin's early enough to avoid the big crowd
coming in from Kathmandu and returnee's on the way out.
Bypass several villages before making a lunch stop at
a beautiful spot alongside the Thada Koshi River below
the base of the Kusum Kangru Himal. The second half
of the trek to Monjo does not take more than 3 hours.
The next big tourist village on the way to Monjo is
Phakding. The entire walk from Lukla to Monjo is mostly
easy walking over gentle up and down hills.
Warm welcome tea served with cookies and cakes await
you at the Monjo lodge
Day 5 : Day Excursion with picnic
from Monjo to Thachok Danda (3,000 mts 5/6 hrs)Today,
to help you acclimatize, your Sherpa Sirdar will take
you on a day walk to Thakchok Danda, which lies at a
little above 9,842 ft / 3,000 m. From this vantage point
the views of the Kongde Ri, Thamserku and the Numbur
Himal are quite spectacular, Picnic lunch. The total
excursion will take about 6 hours.Return to Monjo Lodge
for overnight.
Day 6 :Trek to Everest Summit Lodge,
TASHINGA (11,023 ft / 3450 m) 5 -6hrs.
Five minutes walk from the lodge and you enter into
Everest National Park area, where entry formalities
have to be completed. Today will be one of the harder
days of the trek but we take it slowly, enjoying the
scenery as you climb gradually up to Namche Bazar. Along
the way there are two suspension bridges to cross as
you zig zag the Dudh Koshi River before you are at the
base of the climb to Namche. A long steep climb but
with several stops to catch our breath, and a slow plod,
we make our way steadily upwards. The trail to Namche
Bazar is a well marked, comfortable broad trail. Walking
in the cool part of the morning it is easier to breath
and get used to the increasing altitude. After an easy
paced three hour's of walk you arrive at the heart of
Khumbu - Namche Bazar (3,450 mts). A well-deserved break
is planned for lunch and to look around this interesting
small town. From Namche the trail to Tashinga follows
the classical approach route to Everest. Follow the
almost level, winding trail for about 2.5 hours before
we take a slight detour from the main trail and arrive
at the lodge with the next 15 minutes.
Day 7 : Excursion to ''Everest View
Hotel'' (3880 mts)
A landmark in the Khumbu region. From the terrace of
the hotel you have undoubtedly one of the best views
of the mighty Himalayas, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama
Dablam and many more. Along the way as you get acclimatized
your guide will have interesting information about the
Sherpa history and culture as you pass by the biggest
sherpa village of Khumjung on the way to another fantastic
viewing point at Mongla (3973 m). Return to Tashinga
for overnight.
Day 8 : Sherpa monastery Tengboche
and on to Pangboche ( /3985 mts)
The descent to the Dudh Koshi river and the gradual
ascent to the Tengboche plateau (3870 m) is no more
than three hours walk. On the way up to Tengboche through
rhododendron forest it is quite common to be accompanied
by monks, trekkers and traders. During the lunch break
visit the most famous monastery in Khumbu. Bypass Deboche,
where you find a nunnery and shortly thereafter walk
along the Imja Drangka River to Pangboche. For most
part it is a comfortable and scenic walk. Our lodge
in Pangboche is located right along the trail to Everest
and almost at the base of the Mt. Ama Dablam
Day 9: Day excursion to Taboche Meadows
(4380 m)
After almost a week of good acclimatizing the walk up
towards the Taboche peak (6380 m) should not be too
much of a problem! Once at the meadows, grazing grounds
for yaks during the summer months, the view of the great
peaks from here is a 180-degree marvel. For those with
higher ambitions the possibility of reaching the 5000
m is also an option!
Day 10 : Highend Ama Dablam Basecamp
(4295 m)
Ama Dablam is one of the most loved and admired mountain
in Khumbu. After crossing the Imja Drangka river, followed
by a gradual ascent until Lhabarma you are suddenly
standing right in front the mountain ridge. The fact
that one can walk right to its foothill and absorb the
aura of the mountain is real gift of Mother Nature.
Return to Pangboche for overnight.
Day 11 : Retrace to Tashinga via an
alternate route.
Along the way cross the Mengbo and the Dudh Koshi rivers
to the quiet trail on the other side. The panoramic
vista with old stone houses and the absence of the usual
trekkers along the way is bliss until you reach Tengboche.
From here follow the normal trail back to Tashinga.
Day 12 : Via Khumjung to Mende (3730
m)
Over familiar terrain, water powered prayer wheels and
prayer flags, to the village of Khumjung and on to Syangboche,
At one time Syangboche was considered as an alternate
airport for Lukla. Because of the seldom trodden trails,
pheasants, wild chickens and thars are quite common
sighting on the way to Mende. The last portion of walk
from Teso to the lodge takes one's breathe away because
of the steep ascent. Once at Mende you appreciate the
location, views and most of all the fully electrified
lodge facility. Two nights are on the program at Mende.
Day 13 : Day excursion to Thame (3800
m)
The village of Thame with its monastery and the close
proximity to Tibet is one of the most beautiful village
in Khumbu. The monastery is almost 350 years old . The
walk to and from Thame is very comfortable and pleasant.
In the evening enjoy a cultural program arranged by
the staff with help of a "special local musician".
Day 14 : Laudo Monastry, Return to
Monjo
The small meditation Laudo monastery above the lodge
is on the program after breakfast. The personal briefing
by the abbot of the gompa is a humble experience. On
the way down to Monjo lunch is at Namche bazaar which
is followed by descent all the way to Monjo to our already
familiar lodge.
Day 15: To Lukla via alternate route
over the Gumila
We try to avoid the crowded trail leading to the village
of Phakding by walking on the opposite side of the Dudh
Koshi river. A visit to the Gumila monastery on the
way before we cross the river for the last time and
arrive at Ghat. After the lunch at Tadi Koshi it is
not too long before we make it back to Lukla for the
last night in Everest country.
Day 16: Farewell and flight back to
Kathmandu and transfer to your city hotel.
