Sapa Trek

 

Situated at the elevation of 1500 meter above the sea level, next to Chinese border, Sapa is endowed with favorable natural conditions and is very attractive to travelers. The scenery is breathtaking, the culture is colorful and unique with many ethnic minority groups all wearing their traditional attire.

 

Day 1 - Hanoi-Sapa
Leave Hanoi by road for the picturesque day’s journey to Sapa, in the far northwestern corner of Vietnam. There are many photo opportunities along the way and after a lunch stop at Yen Bai visit Black Dao and Flower H’mong villages en route. Arrive at Lao Cai in the late afternoon where you can gaze across the Red River at China on the opposite bank. From Lao Cai the road winds up the terraced hillsides to Sapa, a former French hill resort and home to some of Vietnam’s most colourful ethnic groups. Transfer to hotel. Overnight in Sapa.

Day 2 - Sapa-Sin Chai
Leave Sapa by jeep after breakfast and head down a dirt-track to Su Pan. Continue by foot from here through the beautiful mountain scenery of terraced rice fields tended by colourfully-dressed local minority farmers. Lunch is a family home at a Thay minority village called Than Phu. After lunch trek up to an altitude of over 1,000m before arriving at the isolated and seldom visited village of Sin Chai. The trek cook prepares a hearty evening meal before settling down for the night in a local house or tent. Overnight in Sin Chai. (B,L,D)

Day 3 - Sin Chai
Sin Chai is a village belonging to the Dao people, whose women wear beautifully embroidered clothes with distinctive silver jewellery and an enormous red turban. The day begins early in Sin Chai with the first cock crow. After breakfast a two-hour easy morning trek to Suoi Thau, another Dao village, gives magnificent views across the valley. After lunch at Suoi Thau, return to Sin Chai for further exploration and dinner. Overnight in Sin Chai. (B,L,D)

Day 4 - Sin Chai-Sapa
Say goodbye and leave Sin Chai for the trek back to Sapa after breakfast with a tea-break and perhaps a swim in the river at Than Phu. Lunch is prepared at a local home in Ban Ho village and after lunch continue the trek to Su Pan where the jeeps are waiting for the drive back to Sapa. Transfer to hotel on arrival in Sapa. Overnight in Sapa. (B,L)

Day 5 - Sapa-Hanoi
Return to Hanoi after breakfast via Lao Cai and Yen Bai. (B)

Mount Fan Si Pan Trek

 

At 3143m Mt. Fansipan is the highest peak in Vietnam and the entire Indochina peninsula. This remote trek provides plenty to see and absorb, from the scattered rocks inscribed with drawings and designs of unknown origin, to the French influenced hill retreat town of Sapa with its minority groups, beautiful villas and cherry forests.

Our trek to the top of Mt. Fansipan is challenging and will be fully supported every step of the way by our guides, porters and cooks who's local knowledge and understanding of the different hill-tribe cultures we pass along the way will add to the uniqueness of this exhilarating journey.

 

Day 1 - Hanoi-Sapa

Day 2 - Sapa-Forest Camp
An early start for the first day’s climb through the H’mong village of Cat Cat and on to cross the Linh Ho River on a bamboo village before reaching the forest. Pitch camp at an altitude of 2200m in the forest. The evening meal is prepared by the cook around a camp fire while the nocturnal sounds of the forest provide an exotic soundtrack in the background. Day 3 - Forest Camp-Base Camp
Breaking camp after breakfast continue onwards to 2,400m where the forest gives way to huge groves of bamboo and up to a ridge at 2,900m which offers breath-taking views over the Sapa valley. Descending from the ridge the porters set up camp at 2400m. This will be base camp for the next two nights. Overnight at Base Camp. (B,L,D)

Day 4 - Base Camp-Summit-Base Camp
Break camp after an early breakfast and start the final ascent arriving at the summit 3143m above sea-level. From this, the highest point in Vietnam, there are stunning views to China in the north, and to Laos in the west. There is time for a well-earned rest before descending back down to Base Camp for the night. Overnight at Base Camp. (B,L,D)

Day 5 - Base Camp-Sapa
Enjoy morning coffee and the sounds of nature as the porters break down the camp and leave in advance back to Sapa. Trekking back down across well-known terrain always goes more quickly and arrival time back in Sapa should be in the late afternoon. Overnight in Sapa. (B,L)

Day 6 - Sapa-Hanoi
Return to Hanoi after breakfast via Lao Cai and Yen Bai. (B)
